Bad California BART Police Officer Johannes Mehserle’s Family Targeted With Death Threats After He Shot And Killed Unarmed Man On New Year’s Day

NAPA, CALIFORNIA – A family friend of the BART police officer who fatally shot an unarmed man in Oakland says the family has been terrorized by death threats since the New Year’s Day incident.

Napa County Supervisor Bill Dodd told the Napa Valley Register that he’s known Johannes Mehserle and his family for about 20 years.

Dodd told the Register the death threats have not only been aimed at Mehserle, but also his parents, wife and 1-week-old baby. He says the threats have forced the family to move from their Napa home.

Mehserle resigned from the force after the shooting and has not spoken to investigators. No arrest has been made in the death of 22-year-old Oscar Grant, sparking public outrage and accusations of police brutality.
