Huntsville Alabama Police Officer Jimmy Shane Hitt Arrested And Charged With Forging Prescriptions

HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA — A Huntsville police officer was arrested last night for allegedly forging prescriptions and attempting to fill those prescriptions at a local pharmacy.

Jimmy Shane Hitt, 35, was booked in the Madison County Jail on three counts of attempting to obtain drugs by fraud and attempting to possess a controlled substance, said police spokesman Sgt. Mark Roberts.

Police did not say what type of drugs he is accused of trying to obtain.

Hitt was released today on a $10,000 bond and has been suspended from active duty and placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal and administrative charges, according to a statement from the department. He’s been with the Huntsville Police Department for seven years.

The case was investigated by the Huntsville Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and the Strategic Counterdrug Team.
